Since 2014, the community has discussed the concept of placing sculpture in upper Perry Park. Guidance has come from PARD, Art in Public Places and The Contemporary Austin – Laguna Gloria. We have made great progress so far. With phase 1 of the project complete, a ribbon cutting celebration was held in January 2016 to thank everyone involved in the project.
The Perry Art Park Steering Team has now launched Phase 2 of the art park project. FOPP has received approval from Laguna Gloria and PARD to install two more pieces along the access trail, and the Austin Parks Foundation has awarded a grant to partially fund the project. We also received $5000 financial support from the local community to match the grant and complete the project in 2017.
