Phase 2 Sculptures

The Friends of Perry Park (FOPP) is very encouraged by the positive feedback and support from so many neighbors for the new Perry Art Park. The formal ribbon-cutting ceremony in January 2016 recognized the completion of Phase 1 of the Art Park with the installation of the  “Dayton” sculpture and the sidewalk.  Click here to watch a video of Phase 1!

Art Park Phase 2 is now solidly underway, with an ambitious timeline for installing more sculptures on loan from The Contemporary Austin in 2017.  FOPP, working closely with Austin Parks and Recreation Department, Art in Public Places, and the Arts Commission, has received approval for two pieces:  Blue Float by Peter Reginato (shown below) and  Alas #IV by Betty Gold.  (Information on the sculpture and artist is here ).

Our fundraising goals for Phase 2 have been met with the award of $18,560 grant from the Austin Parks Foundation (APF) and $5000 matching funds from the local community (thanks, sponsors!).  Construction groundbreaking will begin soon and the sculpture installations should be completed in early 2017.
